Our care team of genetic counselors and physician specialists works closely to ensure patients and families with an increased risk of cancer receive outstanding care, with a focus on cancer prevention and early detection. Our team includes:
Lisa Madlensky, PhD, CGC
Dr. Madlensky provides cancer risk assessment and genetic counseling for patients and families. She is also a researcher at the Cancer Center, focusing on cancer prevention in those at increased risk of disease because of their family history or genetic predisposition.
Kimberly Forbes, MS, CGC
Kimberly Forbes is a licensed, board-certified genetic counselor who provides risk assessment and genetic counseling for patients and families. She also serves as the only full-time genetic counselor in the Family Cancer Genetics Program, specializing in a spectrum of hereditary cancer syndromes. She continues to collaborate as a team member of the Athena Breast Health Network aimed at personalizing breast cancer prevention, screening, and treatment.
Lauren Korty, MS, CGC
Lauren Korty is a licensed, board-certified genetic counselor who provides genetic counseling and risk assessment for those with hereditary cancer syndromes. She also specializes in prenatal genetic counseling and works with families affected by various hereditary diseases.
Christina Brock, MS, CGC
Christina Brock is a genetic counselor primarily at UC San Diego's Fetal Care and Genetics Center and at the Family Cancer Genetics Program. She also has experience in pediatric genetic clinics. She provides genetic counseling to Spanish-speaking and English-speaking patients.
Diana De Rosa, MS, CGC
Diana De Rosa is a licensed, board-certified genetic counselor who provides risk assessment and genetic counseling for patients and families. She also serves as the Athena Breast Health Specialist, collaborating with all five University of California medical centers with the goal of identifying women at elevated risk for breast cancer, providing personalized risk assessment, and facilitating access to appropriate resources.
Kelsey Rolfe, MS, CGC
Kelsey Rolfe is a licensed, board-certified genetic counselor who provides hereditary risk assessment and counseling for individuals and families. She specializes in risk assessment for hereditary cancer syndromes as well as prenatal and preconception genetic counseling.
Michael Bouvet, MD, Surgical Oncology, Endocrine Surgery
Dr. Bouvet specializes in surgical oncology and endocrine surgery. He performs surgeries for tumors of the pancreas, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, liver, esophagus, and stomach, as well as for other conditions. He has performed many whipple procedures for pancreatic cancer. In his recent medical publications, he has reported on new techniques for imaging pancreatic cancer and for understanding its causes and the factors that influence its growth. As an endocrine cancer specialist, Dr. Bouvet provides care for families with rare genetic forms of endocrine cancer, including multiple endocrine neoplasia types 1 and 2.
Sonia Ramamoorthy, MD, Colorectal Surgery, Minimally Invasive Surgery
Dr. Ramamoorthy performs open and minimally invasive colorectal surgeries as well as all standard general surgery procedures. She has advanced training in colon and rectal surgery and has special certification in minimally invasive surgical techniques to treat cancers as well as other conditions in the colon, rectum, and anus. Dr. Ramamoorthy is experienced with the unique surgical needs of patients with polyposis syndromes and hereditary colorectal cancer.
Cheryl C. Saenz, MD, Gynecologic Oncology
Dr. Saenz is an Associate Clinical Professor in Reproductive Medicine and a member of the Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG), the largest multi-institutional organization conducting research into the treatment and prevention of gynecologic cancers. She is particularly interested in gynecologic cancer prevention, and provides specialized management for women at increased risk of ovarian and endometrial cancers.
Anne Wallace, MD, Surgical Oncology, Reconstructive Surgery
Dr. Wallace is director of Moores Cancer Center's Comprehensive Breast Health Center and is board-certified in both general surgery and plastic surgery. She has extensive experience in all aspects of breast health, specifically breast cancer and breast reconstruction. Her research interests include development of better imaging technologies for both treatment and detection of cancer. This specifically is linked with her strong interest in high-risk patients and breast cancer prevention. Dr. Wallace provides long-term management for women at high risk of developing breast cancer.
