American Sign Language Fellowship Program
UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center’s mission is to reduce cancer morbidity and mortality, with a special focus on the medically underserved. The center’s outreach program has been working closely with the Deaf community, a highly underserved group.
The Deaf Culture Training and Cancer Prevention Fellowship Program is for first and second-year medical students enrolled at University of California San Diego (UCSD). They will become skilled in:
- American Sign Language (ASL) in the context of the medical setting
- Deaf culture
- Cancer prevention with a focus on early detection, prompt intervention, and clinical trials
