Function of Communications / Public Affairs
Steven Benowitz is responsible for promoting the Cancer Center to
internal and external audiences through the Center's programs,
services, people and accomplishments.
Service Profile
| Publications |
Serves
as editor of Moores UCSD Cancer Center News and ‘CC
Browser’, the internal online news bulletin. Contributes articles
and other material to UCSD Health Sciences News, CenterPoint,
UCSD Times and other internal UCSD publications; and to Physicians
Practice, Physician Update and other UCSD-produced publications
for external distribution.

Contributes
content for the Cancer Center website and other UCSD websites,
and provides editorial assistance as needed.

Relations |
Provides
newsworthy information to local, national and international news
organizations, and works with individual editors and reporters
to facilitate positive story placement. Also coordinates media
interviews; assists with fact-finding; and answers media questions
and requests.

| Consulting |
Available
to provide public relations expertise for strategic planning,
media exposure and issues management.

Services |
Available
to provide editing and proofreading services on materials for
public dissemination to a lay audience.

| Events
|
Provides
public relations assistance and consultation in planning, promoting
and facilitating the Cancer Center’s public and fund-raising events.
