SERVICES - Associate Director
for Administration
Mr. Goodman is responsible for assisting the Center Director with all aspects of strategic planning and Center Administration, including the fiscal administration of the CCSG and the organization of day-to-day activities of the Center. The central aim given to this position is to arrange the long and short-term business of the Center to facilitate the conduct of research by its Members, especially in regard to collaboration between them, and access to Shared Resources. The post is responsible for maintaining regular contacts with the central administration of the NCI, the University, the Medical School and the Hospitals, including the Oncology clinics, and for being familiar with the rules and administrative operational procedures of all these organizations. The Associate Director for Administration works in consultation with, and advises the Center Director about, regulatory issues and implements Center-wide decisions under his guidance. Further responsibilities include monitoring opportunities for the support and growth of the Center in the parent Institution, including its hospitals, and searching for new peer-reviewed collaborative funding initiatives for our investigators. The post reports directly to the Center Director. Mr. Goodman brings to the position over 30 years of senior academic and cancer center administration experience. Prior to his appointment as Associate Director for Administration at the Moores Cancer Center he served in multiple capacities at NYU Medical Center including administrator of the departments of Psychiatry, Neurology and Pathology; Center for AIDS Research; director of the Office of Grants Administration and Institutional Studies; director and member of the IRB, IACUC, and IBC. From 1984 to 2001 he was the Administrative Director of the Rita & Stanley H. Kaplan Cancer Center, an NCI designated comprehensive cancer center. He has published and presented widely on research administration and in 1997 won the Rod Rose Award of the Society of Research Administrators for best publication of the year.
